Shoplifters

"Złodziejaszki" is the story of a three-generation poor family living in the suburbs of Tokyo. Various odd jobs and minor thefts persist. And although they barely make ends meet, when one day a homeless girl appears in their lives, they decide to give her a roof over her head without hesitation.
This is the beginning of events that reveal hidden secrets from the family past.

The director of the film, Hirokazu Kore-ed, belongs to the forefront of contemporary Japanese artists and is the most popular representative of this film in Poland. In the last few years, the cinema audiences had the opportunity to associate with his loud, award-winning paintings "After the Storm" (2016), "Our Little Sister" (2015), "Jak dad i syn" (2013). Critics call him the continuator of the film tradition of Japanese master Yasujirô Ozu, but Koreeda himself thinks that he is closer to Ken Loach, who, like him, uses a camera to portray the social inequalities and absurdities of the modern world.
