Post-war Germany, 1946. Rachael Morgan (Oscar-nominated Keira Knightley) arrives in the ruined Hamburg in the middle of a cold winter to join his husband, Lewis (Jason Clarke), a British colonel entrusted with the task of rebuilding the city. The film is a screening of a novel by Rhidian Brook.

Hamburg, the second largest city in Germany, in 1943 survived the catastrophic bombing of Allied forces. When British forces entered the city, they found millions of German citizens without shelter, food, fuel and other livelihoods.
In such circumstances, Rachael Morgan, from England, arrives in the ruins of Hamburg to meet her husband, a British colonel, who was entrusted with the task of rebuilding the destroyed city after the end of the Second World War. Upon arriving in his new home, Rachel is surprised to discover that Lewis made an unusual decision: the spouses will share the residence with its former owners, the architect who designed the majestic residence, Stephan Lubert (Alexander Skarsgård) and his rebellious teenage daughter Freda (Flora Li Thiemann ). Although the spacious mansion does not lack space for both English married and German displaced persons, an unusual situation gives rise to tension and discomfort, and Rachael feels a hidden grudge against the guests, considering them intruders. In a tense atmosphere, hostility and sadness quickly give way to passion and betrayal ...
Rhidian Brook, the author of the world bestseller "In another home", was inspired by the amazing story of his grandfather. Colonel Walter Brook was one of the English officers sent to Germany to put the country on its feet after years of killing and destroying. The district governor in the vicinity of Hamburg, Walter Brook, confiscated the house for his family, but decided not to throw German owners on the pavement. And so, two families - a few months earlier on the opposite sides of the deadly conflict - lived in one house for five years.
Walter Brook was the inspiration for the figure of Colonel Lewis Morgan, a progressive and altruistic officer of the army, who allowed Stephan Lubert, an architect awaiting permission to return to work in the profession, stay in his residence on the Elbe. "Although the events described in" In another's home "are mine, this story would not have been made had it not been for my grandfather's exceptional act of kindness," said Rhidian Brook.
